Game Viewing

Northern Kenya is a tourist hotspot, second only to Maasai Mara National Park in terms of game-viewing. Compared to other destinations, this area is off the beaten track and has more endangered mammals within its periphery than any other destination in East Africa. Endangered species include black rhino, African wild dog and Grevy’s Zebra. Other species endemic to northern Kenya include somali ostrich, beisa oryx, gerenuk, and reticulated giraffe. Good predator populations mean that sightings of lion, leopard and cheetah are also common.

Walking Safaris

Our walking safaris take you through spectacular wilderness areas and remote rolling hills of the Laikipia Plateau. Walking safaris are planned and executed by experienced guides who have a wealth of knowledge about the ecosystem. Our walking safaris can be tailored to fit your needs and expectations.

Camel Treks

Our camel treks are carefully and thoughtfully designed to enable you to travel nomadically with camels to appreciate the region’s natural and cultural heritage. The trek begins with waking at sunrise to eat a delicious and hearty breakfast. Your luggage and camping gear is transported on a camelback, and the camels trail behind as you take in the breathtaking views of the Laikipia Plateau. Depending on local conditions, the campsite is set up near a picturesque river. Trekking typically takes place during the morning hours when the sun is not too direct, while the afternoons are reserved for rest and relaxation, afternoon strolls, or catching the sunset.

Rock Climbing

For the experienced adventurers, rock climbing is available at the twin granite domes of the Lendille Peaks. Climbs range between 10 and 50-meters in height with wonderful views across the plains. Abseiling (rappelling) back down the cliff provides you with a bird’s-eye view of the valley below.

Water Sports

The Ewaso Nyiro River provides the opportunity for a number of adventurous water sports including rafting, canoeing, kayaking and river tubing. Your river trip can be tailored to suit your experience level and expectations.

Mountain Biking

Leisure cycling with mountain bikes can be undertaken in the lodge's surrounding neighborhoods. The steep terrain and plains also offer the opportunity for more strenuous cycling to test your endurance and go off the beaten track.
